The past decade my disease of addiction has turned my world and my family’s world upside down. A young woman raised by two loving parents in a white picket fence neighborhood turned into a heroin addicted prostitute who chose drugs over her family and children’s well being. Homeless on the streets and inches away from death I was given the “Gift Of Desperation”. I took the first step of my journey and entered a year long substance abuse program with my youngest child. From there I was in a transitional program for a few months before moving into our apartment.
I am continuing my recovery and finding my soul again. Patching my relationships is a daily task along with making the next right choice. Today I live with my sobriety as my #1 priority. With triggers around every corner and trying to keep life simple, I face a struggle each morning.
